Background
This station is the live audio stream of Sky News Australia, a 24-hour news channel that began on 19 February 1996 and is operated by Australian News Channel, owned by News Corp Australia. The audio service first reached listeners through the Nova Player app in June 2023, in a partnership with Nova Entertainment. In August 2024 it also went on DAB+ digital radio in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, carrying the channel's daytime news and prime-time commentary shows without the pictures.
The channel was renamed News24 on 27 July 2026, after the licence that allowed it to use the Sky name was not renewed, and the audio stream is now called News24 Radio. It is on DAB+ in the same three cities and in the News24 Australia, Nova Player and Smooth Player apps. Radio directories, including this one, may still show the older name.
