Background
SBS Chill is a music-only station from the Special Broadcasting Service, Australia's multicultural public broadcaster. It plays chillout, downtempo, ambient, electronic and lo-fi tracks from around the world, aimed at working, studying and winding down, and SBS describes it as free of ad interruptions. New additions are announced each week in the Monday Music Drop.
Chill began as a digital radio station and was part of SBS's DAB+ line-up by the end of 2017. It can be heard on DAB+ in eight capital cities, on digital TV channel 306, in the SBS Audio app and online. SBS announced in October 2023 that Chill would also become a video channel on SBS On Demand, pairing the music with calm scenery. SBS also runs an annual listener-voted countdown, the Chillest 100.
