Background
SBS PopAsia is an Australian digital station that plays pop music from across Asia: mostly K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and V-pop, with Filipino pop as well. It grew out of the Asian Pop Show, a two-hour weekly slot on SBS's youth radio program Alchemy, and became a 24-hour digital station around 2009 to 2010 (SBS and later write-ups give different years).
The schedule is built from named shows, such as J-pop Nation, V-pop Vibes, C-pop Central, K-pop Late Nights, Filipino Buzz and the Friday and Saturday night PopAsia Party. PopAsia is on DAB+ in eight capital cities, on digital TV channel 307, in the SBS Audio app and online. The Music Network reported that it was the first Australian radio station to reach one million Facebook likes.
