Background

Nova 91.9 is Nova Entertainment's Adelaide station, playing current pop and chart hits. Nova's owner, then called DMG Radio, paid A$24 million for the FM licence in October 2003 and launched the station in August 2004, aiming at listeners under 40 with a promise of never more than two ads in a row and a local, Adelaide feel.

The call sign is 5ADL, for South Australia and Adelaide. The signal comes from 91.9 MHz at about 20 kW, with a 99.1 MHz repeater in the Adelaide foothills. Its sister station is the talk station FIVEaa, and the Nova name also runs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, where each station has its own breakfast show and shares other shifts across the network.
