Background
Sport Nation is New Zealand's dedicated sports radio network, on air around the clock with sports talk, live commentary and racing. It began as SENZ on 19 July 2021, when Australia's Sports Entertainment Network moved into New Zealand using radio licences it bought from TAB NZ, with studios planned in Auckland and Wellington and former Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum as headline talent. Ian Smith and Israel Dagg were also among the first hosts.
On 19 November 2024 SENZ was renamed Sport Nation, billed as the Kiwi voice of sport. It is operated by Entain Australia and New Zealand, the company behind the TAB and betcha wagering brands, and the station carries racing and betting-market updates for those brands. It is heard on AM and FM frequencies across the country and online.
